Welcome to the online guidebook for Clown Town Tarot! Clown Town was the first deck I created, when I was younger and more foolish and not thinking of such things as writing a coherent guidebook. These pages are a lightly edited version of the explanatory document I hastily put together around the time of the second edition, in December 2019. I wish I could have more detail, but I’d rather move on to my newer projects, and going back to try and figure out what I was thinking is almost impossible anyway. So “it is what it is,” and it made sense at the time.
This deck was modeled after the Jodorowsky-Camoin version of the Tarot de Marseille, which you may see reflected in the ordering and some of the interpretations that follow. It’s a strange one, but I hope you at least enjoy the pictures.
